Get your paws on a dog-friendly holiday in our Lake District competition

Share your pup’s love of the Lakes and win a dog-friendly adventure

Ahead of International Dog Day (Monday 26 August), we’re launching a new competition to find a Lake District-loving hound and their well-behaved owner to review a free holiday in the Lakes. As International Dog Day celebrates and honours all dogs, no matter what shape, size, age or breed, it’s the pawfect time to launch this extra special canine challenge!

Cumbria is a very popular dog-friendly destination; in fact, the most recent Cumbria Visitor Survey showed that 30% of all visitor groups bring their four-legged friends on holiday with them. As a family-run business offering self-catering and glamping holidays, holiday home ownership, and days out at our heritage attractions, we understand that dogs are ‘impawtant’ family members and as such, deserve a holiday too. That’s why we’re on the lookout for a canine champion who will be offered a coveted position as our honorary ambassador, experiencing the joy of the Lake District from a dog’s-eye view.

The competition follows the success of our search last year to find a ‘Family Feedback Champion’ and again, is about using the power of social media to harness people’s love for exploring the Lake District — this time, with a focus on our canine family members.

As a reward for posting all about their dog-friendly adventures on their social media channels, a lucky dog owner and their four-legged friend will win a complimentary 3 or 4-night stay in a glamping cabin at Waterfoot Park in the Ullswater Valley for up to 2 adults and 2 children, and up to two dogs. Waterfoot Park’s glamping cabins, pods, and self-catering properties all offer views of the surrounding fells, while a complimentary ‘dog welcome pack’ from Sir Woofchester’s features a toy and treats.

The winners will also have the chance to jump on board two iconic dog-friendly Lake District attractions — Ullswater 'Steamers' and Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway — with special ‘Rover’ tickets which offer some extra-special doggy upgrades and access to spectacular walking routes.

How to enter

So, if you’re a dog-owner who’s active on social media channels like Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, and are happy to provide a short review of your trip, along with photos and smartphone videos — we’d love to hear from you! It’s easy to enter using the short online form below, telling us why your canine champion should be given the VIP role of ‘Very Impawtant Pooch’. You can also send us extra information and photographs by emailing competitions@lakedistrictestates.co.uk
